NEWS FROM THE SOCIETY
Michael Alin, Hon. FASID, executive director of ASID, will retire on Oct. 1, 2011, after more than 20 years with the Society. Alin announced his decision at the ASID Board of Directors meeting in January. Alin joined ASID in late 1990 as deputy executive director and took on the responsibility of shepherding the Society’s strategic planning and managing membership operations. He became executive director in May of 1998.”It has been an absolutely fabulous run for me,” Alin commented. “I have been privileged to work with some great and visionary volunteer leaders, who always looked ahead to where the interior design profession and ASID needed to go. The Society’s leadership can take pride in its contributions to the growing success of the profession and to its accepted place among other professions in the built environment.”
Prepared annually as part of the Society’s strategic planning process, this report looks at large-scale trends and developments in the spheres of economics, politics, society, technology and the environment; as well as within the A&D sectors of the building industry, that are shaping the interior design industry. The REGREEN Resolution
Feb. 24,  1 p.m. Eastern

Led by Annette Stelmack, Allied Member ASID, LEED AP, Founder and Principal of Inspirit-llc,The REGREEN Residential Remodeling Program has grown exponentially since its humble beginnings three years ago as a set of hardcopy guidelines. Now a robust, multi-pronged, Web-based resource, REGREEN faculty will provide an overview of the REGREEN website including new tools, education and resources, as well as strategies to incorporate them into your practice. Particular emphasis will be placed on the use of case studies, lessons learned, and the “whole-house” approach, central to the REGREEN philosophy. The January webinar sold out, so we’re offering an encore presentation. Participants receive additional incentives after completing the webinar, so be sure to register early to take advantage of this opportunity (0.1 CEU).
