The proposed legislation does not limit, restrict or prevent the practice of interior design, nor prevent anyone from using the title “interior design” or “interior designer”.
This bill does not reinvent the wheel – similar voluntary registration and certification statutes have been successfully adopted in 28 states, with others in the process. Other states have concluded that establishing this category of registered professional in the field of architecture and design is similar to the prior emergence of the physician’s assistant and nurse practitioner in the medical field.
